Paul Waugh Labour and Co-operative MP for Rochdale
I would like to wish a blessed and joyful Eid al-Fitr to all Muslims in Rochdale, the UK and across the world.
Throughout Ramadan, it has been inspiring for me personally to see people of all faiths and none joining together at iftars in Rochdale and in Westminster.
These events encapsulate the spirit of community and charity that lie at the heart of this holy month.
They strengthen the bonds of friendship, charity and community and remind us that we have far more in common than divides us.
While this is a time of celebration, I know many people’s prayers have had a particular focus on ending the suffering in Gaza, the West Bank, Sudan, and others in need around the world.
Many of you will be praying for victims of the earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand too.
We are blessed that Rochdale is home to people from all backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs, and we are united by our shared values of compassion and solidarity.
Eid Mubarak!
